Hey guys! Thanks for the quick add and giving me a shot. New to this whole writing thing. Not really, as people have told me for years that they think I'm pretty good. Never really gave it any thought until now. Just scholarly papers up until 2020. I'm just now opening up to the world of literature.

Anyway, I do have a quick question: in which folder do I submit fables? Is that short stories? Thanks!
Hey!
For anyone who decided to read 'Heart Tinkerer' in shortstories...
I've decided to lengthen it starting with the next addition, Chapter Two.
So check it out if your heart desires. Lol!

Corny - I know. But seriously, click the link! Post Below
Heart Tinkerer Chapt. 2Stillness encased Nyla's senses. And with every passing moment of blindness, her panic rose to new heights. There seemed to be a weight set upon her that prevented the use of her eyesight. She didn't know what was going on and not being able to see the cause of her restrictions made it all the more frightening. 'Okay, Nyla,' she thought, 'calm down and breathe. In... two... three...'This way she was able to talk herself down. After a time, she quieted and the frantic beating of her heart subsided. The suffocating weight bearing down upon her also lessened a degree. From this clearer state, she was able to focus all her energy into breaking through the seemingly impenetrable black. Nyla tensed as a throbbing pounded rhythmically against her skull. However, this wasn't about to stop her... As the pain mounted and nausea swelled within her, she just dug her nails into the soft mass beneath her. Despite all her efforts, the dense curtain refused to open, leaving her cast in shadow. The discomfort this put her body through overwhelmed her and forced her to relax. Even as she did so, it felt as though her head had been placed into a vise. At any time, now, it'd be turned to mush - the same mush her stomach wished to spew. Overall, pain grasped at Nyla's exhausted form. For what seemed a while, she remained lethargic. Taming the riled creatures plaguing her body, the only thing on her mind. That was until she heard the sound of footsteps. Heavy... and getting closer. At once her need to be free renewed itself with an intensity not seen before. Adrenaline worked to block most of the pain but only amplified the turbulence felt in her abdomen. Instinct begged Nyla to free her limbs from whatever was restricting them. Logical thought kept her focused on getting her eyes to respond. If she did manage to break her bonds, without sight, she was no more capable than in her current predicament. Something caught her attention then. An oddity that made her concentrate. She listened intently to try to pinpoint what she was hearing... Humming? A tune that bounced. It could even be considered jaunty. Her inquisition ended abruptly as the joyful melody meandered about, stopping just to her left. Nyla froze. Her lungs forgot how to draw breath. No movement came from her, whatsoever. There was no way she'd allow the rattling beneath her to alert the chipper person responsible for her impairment. The swish of a curtain set her nerves on fire. She itched to do, well, anything. But there was no use. Without warning the bubbly humming ceased, plunging the room into a maddening silence. Nyla strained her ears for any clues as to what was happening outside of herself. Finally, footsteps could be heard moving to what she presumed to be the other side of the room. As it went quiet, once more, her chest released allowing her to breathe a little. Unfortunately, this didn't last long. A scraping sound taunted her as it drew near... back to her left side. Her fate seemed to seal as the jeering ended with a metallic thud. "Hush now, little one." A male voice murmured gently. The syllables were spoken in a sing-song fashion - much like the melody hummed before, "You won't be in pain much longer."A hand then brushed the at the hair above her ear as a foreign plastic object outlined her nose and mouth. Nyla tried to turn away but the man above her held her in place, his touch light. "No! No... no...... no........." She fought with everything she had, no longer caring at all about the pain it caused her. Slowly though, her consciousness faded into nothing....
