Flash Fiction Writing - Tips! by ObsydianDreamer, journal
Flash Fiction Writing - Tips!
Following the Flash Fiction Competition of June 2015, I was asked to create an article about some of my personal favourite entries from the contest, and what made them work. Well, I've taken that, and turned it into an article on the top tips of writing Flash Fiction. These are just my thoughts, and tips I've picked up from Writer's Workshop and Advanced Writing classes.

We writers have a particularly tough job: bringing nonexistent people (our characters) to life in our readers’ imaginations. While it’s never easy, we usually accomplish this magic by writing each character with two qualities in mind:
1) Their personality
2) Their physical appearance
Personality is usually expressed through characterization, and appearance through physical description. Admittedly, that doesn't sound so complicated.
But there are two things I’ll suggest today: first, that description needs to do more than just craft appearance, and second, it’s good characteriz

Paul switched off the TV. Paul was watching TV all the afternoon. His parents went out and he was alone at home. The cat awoke and ran upstairs into the attic. Paul knew his parents wouldn't like that so he shouted:
"Pussy, come back, you little rat."
He ran after her. It was dark in the attic, so he had problems to find her. He looked behind an old picture where he suddenly noticed a key on the floor. He picked the key up from the floor and thought where it would fit:
"Where on earth is the matching door for it?"
Suddenly he saw a door appearing through the bricks of the wall.
"This can't be good. Perhaps it's a nightmare or I've gone c

First Attack - This occurs when either player lands the first hit in a match.
Wounding Hit - All slicing and piercing attacks will wound their targets, causing additional damage and the target to bleed on impact. Wounding Hits will be harder to recover from once the wounded character is tagged out than regular hits due to a 50% difference in unrecoverable damage between normal and Wounding Hits. (Note: Spiked walls and bladed obstacles can also cause Wounding Hits.)
Astral Ready - Once the last surviving member of the opposing team has at most 30% health left, and the player's team has at least a full Photon Energy Gauge, a ful

Hey guys! Thanks for the quick add and giving me a shot. New to this whole writing thing. Not really, as people have told me for years that they think I'm pretty good. Never really gave it any thought until now. Just scholarly papers up until 2020. I'm just now opening up to the world of literature.
Anyway, I do have a quick question: in which folder do I submit fables? Is that short stories? Thanks!
Hey! For anyone who decided to read 'Heart Tinkerer' in shortstories... I've decided to lengthen it starting with the next addition, Chapter Two. So check it out if your heart desires. Lol!
